President's Message

Dear ACEA Members,

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as President of this association. For those I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I would like to share a bit about my professional background and what drives my commitment to this work.

I hold a master’s degree in public administration and have dedicated more than two decades to public service. I currently serve as the Code Compliance Supervisor for the City of Peoria within the Neighborhood and Human Services Department. Prior to joining the City of Peoria, I worked as a federal law enforcement ranger with the National Park Service, with assignments in Texas, Washington, and Pennsylvania, experiences that helped shape both my perspective and my approach to public service.

Like many of you, I believe deeply in the value of the work we do. Although it is often demanding and conducted behind the scenes, our efforts play a critical role in protecting public safety and strengthening our communities. I have great respect for the dedication, professionalism, and perseverance each of you brings to this field, and I look forward to serving alongside you in the year ahead.

Over the past several years, I have witnessed the Board accomplish significant work on behalf of the membership. In 2021, the Board adopted a five-year strategic plan focused on Education and Training Excellence, Membership Growth and Retention, Professional Image and Visibility, and Organizational Sustainability and Governance. As we enter the final year of this plan, I hope you can see the meaningful progress that has resulted from the Board’s collective commitment and hard work.

This year, I am excited to continue working with the Board to complete key objectives from the current strategic plan, while also beginning to look ahead to the next five years as we guide the association through 2031.

None of this work is possible without the active involvement of our members. We can always use additional help, whether that means teaching a training class, serving on a committee, assisting with projects, or even considering a future role on the Board. Your knowledge, experience, and willingness to serve are what keep this association strong and moving forward.

In future newsletters, I look forward to sharing updates that highlight how we have achieved, and will continue to advance, these four strategic goals.

Respectfully,

Eric Hannah
