Unsafe Structures and Abatement Procedures

Class Description: Dealing with unsafe commercial and residential structures is a challenging task that requires code enforcement officers to consider and carefully balance the rights of the property owner, the rights of the adjacent property owners, homeless population and the community at large. This course will examine the reason these situations occur, the tools available to you for compliance, safety considerations, legal consideration and the economic impact on communities. We will also explore different programs around the country that have made a major impact in effected communities.
