Water conservation ordinance?

I need some assistance. I need a sample/copy of an ordinance and enforcement sections that deal with water conservation. Basically, if water was running down the street/gutter from a private property landscaped area, lawn, what would be the enforcement actions possible. If there is anyone of our members that could help me with this would you please ask them to contact me or send me what information that they would have available.

Thank you in advance membership,

Process for removing occupants of an unfit structure?

For those jurisdictions that have adopted the IPMC, or similar code-- the question is: once you make the determination that the structure is unfit for human occupancy--do you have a process for removing those living there? Thanks for any input.

Carport storage?

Looking for ordinances that deal with storage of items in the carport. Do you allow storage if not what does your ordinance say. Thanks.

Gail,

My name is Carlos, I work in Tucson.
Our administrator, Tracy Williams, is trying to enhance our codes this coming Tuesday through our city council. The following section is what we are attempting to add to our codes. Hope this helps.

Gracias, CR

Sec. 16-13 (h) Outdoor Storage
Outdoor storage on residential properties is prohibited under the following conditions:
1. When stored in the front yard.
2. When stored in the side yard or rear yard and is not screened by a minimum five foot high solid wall or opaque fence.
3. When exceeds 25% of the total lot area.
4. When stored in an open covered porch that is visible from beyond the boundaries of the lot.
5. When stored in an open carport that is visible from beyond the boundaries of the lot where the amount of storage restricts an automobile from being properly stored within the carport. A double carport will require enough space to store two automobiles.
6. When storage items include garbage, refuse or debris.

Are you under the Police Department?

Are there any Code Enforcement jurisdictions out there who have been put under their Police Dept? If so, how did you handle the transition? Did you do any training for the officers to help in the Code Enforcement process? Did you start any new programs? Was it a good partnership? Please call me at my office (623) 349-6622 or e-mail me at mstory@buckeyeaz.gov.

Marcia: Goodyear Code just went over to their police department. You might want to talk to Gail Bosgieter, the manager, at 623-882-7814. Peoria Code also went to P.D. Jack Stroud, the supervisor, can be reached at 623-773-7263. Good luck!  Lora Isaacs

Maricopa County Code Enforcement Staffing

“We still have five field deployed code enforcement officers, two office support staff, and a Planner who supervises the work program. They were hard hit by budget cuts, but are still operating and as busy as ever. Charles "Chip" Hart is the supervisor, 602-506-7159.”

Code Compliance Blog

I have been prosecuting code violators for over 20 years and I have been teaching Legal Aspects in Code Administration for the International Code Council for over 10 years. Recently I have begun blogging on my website about code enforcement issues for building officials, building inspectors, property maintenance inspectors, fire inspectors, zoning inspectors and anyone else interested in this area. I wanted to invite the members of your organization to visit the blog at www.codeattorney.com Recently I've written about issues regarding properties in foreclosure, permits, politics and building codes, dealing with vacant properties and more. I have links in those articles to information you may find valuable in trying to determine how to find someone responsible for a property so you can achieve compliance. I'm trying to share information inspectors provide to me to help us all do our jobs better and more efficiently. A number of ICC groups have added the blog address to the links on their websites. Feel free to do this if you think it will benefit you members. I encourage you to post comments on the blog. Thank you for your consideration.
